Friday 10:15-11:30 Session 2J Autoharp

              Basics and Beyond. Review chord patterns and basic strumming techniques on the Autoharp, making it easy to accompany and play along with your dulcimer friends. We’ll also start “tuning in” to hear scale intervals and melodic ranges of tunes.

Friday 1:00-2:15 Session 3H Hammered Dulcimer Advanced

              The “Dill Pickle Rag” A Fun Ragged Rhythm With this tune we’ll get “out of the box” and take a trip around a couple key areas. Focus on hammer patterns, bridge crossings, syncopation and the importance of accent to really sound “raggedy.”

Friday 4:15-5:30 Session 5F Hammered Dulcimer Beginner

              Hammered Dulcimer Basics’ Refining and enhancing basic skills and techniques to increase the ease and enjoyment of playing this lovely instrument. A focus on efficient melody mapping, “tuning” up the ear, hammer technique and patterns and helpful ideas for productive practice.

Saturday 8:45-10:00 Session 6A Mountain Dulcimer Beginner

              Firming the Foundation. As we learn a few new tunes, we’ll be refining basic techniques and skills on the dulcimer with a focus on strumming, finger placement and some basic two finger chords.

Saturday 10:15-11:30 Session 7B Mountain Dulcimer Novice

              Tunes for Two- A Couple of Easy Duets. Playing in parts is always fun and rewarding. Explore the beautiful and enjoyable realm of creating and playing in “perfect harmony.”

Saturday 2:30-3:45 Session 9G Hammered Dulcimer Intermediate

              Love Those Minor Modes! With the lovely air “Her Mantle So Green” we’ll explore the haunting beauty of minor. Add the beautiful and expressive use of minor chords and arpeggios and you’ll have an arrangement that will tug on heartstrings. 

Saturday 4:15-5:30 Session 10J Autoharp

              Autoharp Potpourri. Enjoy singing, plucking and strumming along a variety of folk tunes and hymns on the autoharp. Start to listen for the melodic “roadmap” of tunes and learn where to place and harmonize different intervals of the scale.
