Friday 10:15-11:30 Session 2D Mountain Dulcimer Intermediate

              Morris Dance Tunes. Morris Dancing is a form of English folk dancing dating back from the 1400’s. It is usually done by six to eight dancers with bells on their shins. They are accompanied by really catchy melodies. We’ll learn several of these ancient and beautiful tunes. DAD tuning and maybe a capo.          

Friday 1:00-2:15 Session 3D Mountain Dulcimer Intermediate

              Music From the Muse- Susan’s Originals. In the thirty years I’ve been playing, sometimes tunes just seem to fall out of the dulcimer. Several have been included in the Masters of the Mountain Dulcimer CD series. They are fun to play, and I’d like to share them. DAD tuning. 

Friday 2:30-3:45 Session 4A Mountain Dulcimer Beginner

              Dulcimer Basics: Notes, Fingering, and Strumming. Discover the wonders and joys of the mountain dulcimer as you explore the fretboard and understand the best fingers to use to play simple songs. You’ll also learn new songs faster, play more smoothly, play harmonies, and have more fun jamming. We’ll also learn how to hold the pick to get the best sound for a smooth, easy strum. DAD tuning.

Saturday 8:45-10:00 Session 6C Mountain Dulcimer Intermediate

Hornpipes. Hornpipes were “step-hop” dances used on board ships to exercise the weary sailors. The “long-short” rhythm is really fun to play and is great exercise for your right hand. DAD tuning.

Saturday 1:00-2:15 Session 8C Mountain Dulcimer Intermediate

              Chords, the key to Playing Better. Chords form the structure for all music Understanding chord shapes, positions on the fretboard and chord progressions will enable you to learn new songs faster, play more smoothly, play harmonics, and have more fun jamming. We’ll do some singing and learn some tunes to apply your new skills.

Saturday 4:15-5:30 Session 10C Mountain Dulcimer Intermediate

              The Classical Collection. Classical music uses specific techniques for phrasing, etc. We’ll learn a few tunes by Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi, Praetorius, or Anon and make them sound great. DAD tuning and maybe a capo.
